Lily Fridell is a sculpture and installation artist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her practice is influenced by the experience of growing up in a small, close-knit community with a close connection to nature in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Fridell uses fiber and textile as her main medium to create large-scale sculptures and installations. Focusing on themes of connection, relationships, and introspection, her work is designed to both confront tensions and create space to work through them. Fridell's practice is inspired and informed by the textile and fiber crafts which have been passed down from the women in her family, and by other women artists throughout history who have expressed themselves in soft mediums.
